Hughton feels Brighton ‘deserved something’ from Liverpool loss

Chris Hughton was disappointed that his Brighton team came away with nothing from their game with Liverpool today as he felt they deserved something from their performance.

The Seagulls went down 1-0 thanks to a second-half penalty from Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah but Hughton feels his side gave a good account of themselves over the 90 minutes.

“I thought we restricted them to minimal chances and we were always in the game. I thought on the balance of play we deserved to get something from it.’’ Hughton told Sky Sports.

“They have got lots of moments of real quality because of the players they have got. For the majority of the game, we were able to do that. You just hope that you get some yourselves.”

Brighton did push on a little after the hour mark and there were certainly some nail-biting moments for Liverpool as the game entered the later stages.

“We made a real attempt to get back on level terms. We deserved to get something.” Hughton added.

Brighton are currently 13th in the Premier League, trailing Everton and Bournemouth by just one point.

Hughton’s side’s upcoming fixture is a trip to Old Trafford to face a resurgent Manchester United side next Saturday.
