Millie Bright has said winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League is a ‘burning desire’ at Chelsea as the club look to win an elusive European title.
Chelsea face WSL rivals Manchester City tonight in the second leg of their quarter-final tie. The West Londoners trail 2-0 from the first leg and have a tough task to progress.

Incredibly, it’s the fourth consecutive meeting between the teams. Already this month, Chelsea and City have met in the League Cup final, WSL and the first leg of their European tie.
Chelsea won both domestic encounters and are unbeaten in the WSL this season, but produced a flat performance in defeat at City on March 19th. At the weekend, a stoppage-time winner from Erin Cuthbert sealed Chelsea a 2-1 win in league action.
Ahead of tonight’s second leg, Bright said the absence of a Champions League winner’s medal is something that bugs the four-in-a-row English champions.
“As a club weโre always aware of the trophies we havenโt won, but the most important thing is to look at what we have won,” she told the club’s official website.
“This is our opportunity to bounce back and really show as a team our mentality and the qualities we have.
“Itโs always the aim to win everything, itโs part of who we are, itโs part of our ambition.
“Itโs part of your goals when you become a Chelsea player. Thatโs your ambition, you ask any individual within our squad and theyโll give you the same answer.
“That burning desire to win this competitionโฆitโs the Champions League. Everyone knows how special the Champions League is. Itโs an incredible honour to win it as a player and Sonia has done it as both, so itโs everyoneโs dream to do that.”
