Brentford challenge Arsenal to sign Leicester teenager Monga

Brentford have joined Arsenal in the the race to sign Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga.

Leicester have received enquiries from numerous Premier League teams for Monga, who looks set to leave the King Power Stadium after the club’s relegation to League One.

The Foxes’ fall to the third tier means sales are required and top-flight teams are keen to prise the highly-rated Monga from the Midlands.

Arsenal have been working on a deal to sign Monga, who made 30 senior appearances for Leicester last season.

The 16-year-old is regarded as one of English football’s brightest prospects and holds the records for youngest player to score in the Championship, and youngest player to start a match for Leicester. He’s also the second-youngest player in Premier League history after making his debut at 15 years and 271 days.

According to the reliable Paul Joyce, Brentford are pursuing a deal. The Bees are hopeful thata clearer pathway to first-team football can persuade Monga to snub the Premier League champions for West London.
