Brazil boss Dorival Junior has reacted to pressure around his position by insisting the South Americans will reach the 2026 World Cup final.
Brazil currently sit fourth in the CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification table after a mixed start to their campaign. The record five-time world champions have lost three of their opening seven games, ahead of facing Paraguay on Tuesday.
Their disappointing form comes after a poor Copa America campaign in the summer, where the Selecao lost to Uruguay on penalties in the quarter-finals.
Brazil also failed to progress past the last eight in either of the last two World Cup. Dorival Junior, who only took charge of the national team in January, has won just four of his nine games in charge and is already under pressure.
However, speaking at a press conference ahead of the clash with Paraguay, he made a bold prediction that Brazil would be finalists at the World Cup in two year’s time.
“We will be in the 2026 World Cup final. We will be finalists. You can film me while I’m saying this. I have no doubts. We will be there.”
