Brazil boss Tite has urged Manchester United to complete the signing of Fred as quickly as possible.
The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of weeks and the most recent reports suggest the 25-year-old will have a medical at Carrington today ahead of a £52 million transfer.
Before joining up with his new team-mates, Fred will of course jet off to Russia to take part in this summer’s World Cup, with Brazil being one of the pre-tournament favourites.
Now, the Brazil national team boss, Tite, has urged the deal to be wrapped up as quickly as possible so the player can focus on the tournament:
“When this happens, and it is inevitable, they are going to come to us and our advice to them is resolve this as soon as you can so your head is back with us and focusing on the national team,” Tite said.
The Selecao boss later added: “If I was a manager I’d ask to sign him as well.”
Fred was brought on as a second half substitute during Brazil’s pre World Cup friendly against Croatia, a 2-0 victory which took place at Anfield, the home of United’s great rivals Liverpool of course.
