Barcola ‘breakthrough’ – Liverpool reach transfer agreement with PSG

The winger will join the Reds for a reported £120 million.

Bradley Barcola is set to join Liverpool after the Premier League club reportedly reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

The winger has been the Reds’ top target this summer as they look to replace the superstar production of Mo Salah, who joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer earlier this month.

The 23-year-old has been pushing for a move out of Paris in search of more gametime; he is currently behind Desire Doue and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order, while Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts have all arrived in recent months.

PSG were demanding a £145 million transfer fee, but it appears as if the French club have lowered their asking price for the player.

Bradley Barcola: Liverpool reach transfer agreement with PSG

According to The Times, Liverpool and PSG have “struck an outline agreement” for the transfer Barcola to Anfield for a guaranteed £100 million fee, with an additional £20 million in potential add-ons.

The report says that the two clubs made a “breakthrough” in negotiations overnight, though the deal still needs to be finalised.

The transfer will make Barcola, who has two years remaining on his PSG contract, the second-most expensive signing ever made by Liverpool behind Alexander Isak, who joined the Merseyside outfit from Newcastle United for £125 million last year. Florian Wirtz also joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £100 million, with another £16 million in add-ons based on whether Liverpool win the Premier League or UEFA Champions League.
