Bournemouth enter race for in-demand Tyler Adams

Bournemouth have entered the race for Tyler Adams and have activated the midfielder’s £20m relegation release clause at Leeds.

Adams had looked set to sign for Chelsea after the west Londoners triggered the clause in his contract, with the USA international partially completing a medical with the club.

However, Chelsea cancelled a potential deal after agreeing a fee with Brighton for Moises Caicedo, while the Blues are also chasing a deal to sign Southampton teenager Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea’s withdrawal from a deal for Adams has alerted Premier League rivals with Brighton understood to be considering a bid for the 24-year-old as a potential replacement for Caicedo, who has completed a move to Chelsea which could reach a British record £115m with add-ons.

Brighton face competition however, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Bournemouth have now activated the £20m clause in Adams’ contract.

The Cherries have been active in the market under new manager Andoni Iraola and hope to add Adams to the eye-catching arrivals of Romain Faivre, Justin Kluivert, Alex Scott, Max Aarons and Milos Kerkez this summer.
