The Premier League season is over, and Manchester United have had their best season since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Despite that though, they have been urged to sign Gareth Bale after being described at ‘boring’ by former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
United scored more goals, and achieved more points than in any of the other seasons since the great man retired in 2013, but despite that, fans and pundits alike have been critical of Manchester United’s style of play under Jose Mourinho.
While Mourinho has previously said he that he doesn’t plan on signing any attacking players this summer, Jamie Redknapp has suggested that the Portuguese should do go out and buy Gareth Bale:
“They finished second and could win the FA Cup but let’s face it, this is one of the most boring United teams,” Redknapp wrote in his Mail Online column.
“They signed off the league season with a 1-0 win over Watford that was shown last on Match of the Day.
“If Jose Mourinho wants to change that, he should go and buy Gareth Bale. He has won it all at Real Madrid and won’t be fazed by the Premier League.
“United won’t be the only ones after him. If Eden Hazard goes to Real Madrid, I’m sure Chelsea would be keen on a swap deal.
“After a season of limited gametime, Bale will be keen to prove he is still a world-class talent. What better way to do so than inspire a team to properly challenge City?”
Bale has been tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer as Zinedine Zidane looks to overhaul his squad after a disappointing season domestically, which has seen them fall 15 points behind La Liga Champions and bitter rivals Barcelona.
