He’s arguably the hottest property in world football right now but could Kylian Mbappe be tempted away from Paris Saint-Germain, reports having suggested the superstar forward is considering his options in the French capital at present.
The France international would have the choice of any of the world’s leading sides should he wish to depart the Parc des Princes in search of a new challenge this summer, but which sides do leading Bookies like Betway88 online rate as favourites to secure the signature of one of
the game’s most exciting talents?
Here are the five favourites to sign PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe:
Juventus – 60/1
Juventus remain one of best sides in European football and in the sport’s transfer market, the Italian champions having achieved some brilliant business in recent years.
The Bianconeri are long established as the kings of the Bosman signing having capitalised on some of the game’s finest free agents over the past few seasons, but have shown a willingness to buck that trend with the big-money arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt.
The arrival of the former in particular was part of Juve’s plan to establish themselves as the biggest brand in world football, and a deal for Mbappe – largely viewed as the heir to Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the world’s best player – could further accelerate that ambition.
Mbappe was named as the second most marketable footballer in the world – after Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling – by SportsPro last year, and a huge move to Turn could see the Frenchman replace Ronaldo’s long-term role both on and off the pitch.
Barcelona – 33/1
Barcelona’s pursuit of a new centre-forward is no secret given Luis Suarez’s advancing years, whilst the unparalleled standards set by Lionel Messi will only last so long given the Argentine is 33 this summer.
Mbappe’s directness may not seem ideally suited the Catalan’s style of play, but a player who has flourished at the very highest level since bursting onto the scene as a teenager is likely to command interest from each of Europe’s elite.
Barcelona’s priority, however, is believed to be a move for Mbappe’s PSG teammate Neymar, the Brazilian having enjoyed a hugely successful four-year spell at the Camp Nou – winning a continental treble under Luis Enrique – before heading to Paris in a world-record move.
Whether the Spaniard’s have the finances to pursue a deal in the current climate also remains in doubt.
Manchester City – 20/1
Manchester City were once amongst the leading contenders to sign the Frenchman but recent events have seen the Premier League champions drift out to odds of 20/1.
Pep Guardiola’s side are facing the prospect of a two-season ban from the Champions League after being found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations, meaning the club’s focus may be on retaining their current stars rather than the capture of Mbappe from PSG.
City, of course, have appealed the decision and the result of that will have a huge impact on their ability to compete for the game’s biggest talents this summer. Working under Guardiola and a City side stacked with talent would surely appeal to the forward, though not at the cost
of a two-season absence from Europe’s elite.
Liverpool – 6/1
Much of the talk surrounding a Premier League move for Mbappe amongst the media and leading betting sites like Betway88 has centred around Merseyside, Liverpool having emerged as a destination-club following their recent successes under Jurgen Klopp.
Mbappe has also fuelled the speculation of a switch to Anfield by fluttering his eyelashes in the direction of the Reds, lavishing praise on the current European champions and praising their performances of late.
Liverpool’s new mega kit-manufacturing deal with Nike has also further fuelled the fire, with suggestions that the sportswear giants would be keen to see one of their most marketable athletes head to the planet’s most popular league and one of the world’s best supported clubs.
Any move for Mbappe would likely see one of Liverpool’s current front three – Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane – depart, however, a risky move given the trio’s success and understanding.
Real Madrid – 7/2
The favourites for Mbappe’s signature remain Real Madrid, arguably the most illustrious club in world football and a side never afraid to loosen the purse-strings to attract the game’s best.
Last summer’s extravagant spending has failed to reignite the fortunes of the 13-time European champions, who could be set to splash the cash on yet another Galactico signing.
Los Blancos are yet to truly replace Cristiano Ronaldo and lack star power in attack, Zinedine Zidane’s side remaining reliant on the 32-year-old Karim Benzema despite expensive outlays on the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.
The club are just two years on from a three-peat of Champions League titles and the signing of Mbappe could see the Spanish giants return to those heights, whilst the club’s excellent relationship with PSG could help negotiations.
Mbappe, however, will have just a year remaining on his contract in the summer of 2021, and any pursuit may be a case of a waiting game for the Madrid hierarchy.
