Manchester City have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Leroy Sane faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury.

The German has been in sensational form for the Premier League leaders this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 10 assists in his 22 Premier League appearances so far.

However, the youngster has to be withdrawn at half time of Manchester City’s FA Cup fourth round encounter against Cardiff City after a high challenger from a Joe Bennett, leaving the winger with potential ankle ligament damage.

Speaking after the game, City boss Pep Guardiola said that Sane could be out for a significant time:

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss said:

“He will be out for a while, a few weeks or months, we will see.”

Sane was lucky to avoid a serious injury when he ran through on goal, while the German FA were left furious with the Championship side following the tackle.

The German FA reacted to the challenge from Bennett via Twitter, saying:

“Hey, Cardiff City Just letting you know, we have a really important tournament in the summer. Please don’t hurt our players. Thanks.”
