Liverpool have been dealt a huge injury blow after Joe Gomez was forced to go off just ten minutes into England’s clash with Holland on Friday night.
The 20-year-old started the friendly in Amsterdam, but was forced to withdraw within the first 10 minutes after he fell awkwardly on his ankle after jumping on the ball.
Gomez was assessed for a few minutes before hobbling to the touchline, but was unable to shake off the problem, and was eventually replaced by Leicester defender Harry Maguire.
The former Charlton starlet was in visible pain as he made his way down the tunnel, and the news will leave Jurgen Klopp sweating on news of his fitness with the crucial Champions League quarter final against Manchester City on the horizon.
The youngster will almost certainly miss England’s friendly against Italy on Tuesday and will also likely miss Liverpool’s clash against Crystal Palace next weekend.
