Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has tipped Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba to resolve their differences, after being impressed by the Frenchman’s performance last weekend.
The Manchester United manager has seemingly been at loggerheads with his £89 million midfielder since the turn of the year when, after a promising start to the 2017/18 season, his performances deteriorated drastically.
Pogba returned to his sparkling best during this summer’s World Cup, and despite only returning to training four days before United’s Premier League opener against Leicester, continued that form having been handed the captains armband.
Despite some initial suggestions that the situation wasn’t as bad as it seemed, Pogba’s comments after the game suggested otherwise, with reports today suggesting that the Frenchman will only communicate with his manager via his agent, Mino Raiola.
However, former United number 9 Dimitar Berbatov has tipped the pair to resolve their differences eventually:
“I was very happy with the display of Paul Pogba against Leicester, it was a real captain’s performance,” Berbatov told betfair.
“He was everywhere on the pitch, passed it well, took the penalty with confidence – considering it was the first game, it was very encouraging.
“There has been chat in the media about him being unhappy, but I think the newspapers and social media are always focused on that side of things, trying to find problems that aren’t necessarily there, constantly exaggerating – it’s on the pitch that matters.
“These stories are not good for anybody, but Jose and Pogba will figure it out.”
