Rafa Benitez reckons it is a waste of energy to spend any time talking about any possible Newcastle transfers or the potential takeover of the club.
Benitez refused to discuss anything other than Newcastle’s on-the-pitch matters at his press conference before his sides trip to Chelsea this weekend.
“I don’t want to talk about players, I don’t want to talk about takeovers and I don’t want to talk about me,” Benitez said.
“I just want to talk about these players and our games.”
“We are wasting energy on these things, but we need to focus on the game. I could say it’s a difficult window like other managers, but I prefer not to.”
Benitez has been working under very stringent conditions at Newcastle United over the last few years. Currently, The Magpies are 15th in the Premier League, two points above the relegation zone.
After the Chelsea game, Newcastle travel to Blackburn on Tuesday for their FA Cup third-round replay after drawing 1-1 at St James’ Park last weekend.
