Benitez praises Newcastle fans ahead of Watford clash

Newcastle United welcome Watford to the northeast for their Premier League fixture on Saturday and Magpies boss, Rafa Benitez, today heaped praise on his clubs fans.

Benitez will be well aware of how important it is to keep the Newcastle fans on his side ahead of what is bound to be a very tough remaining seven months of the season.

“We are really lucky to have the fans – home and away, they are really good with the team,” Benitez told his Friday press conference.

“I understand they sometimes don’t agree with the decisions I make, but in the end, our team is our team, the manager is the manager, and we have to stick together.”

Benitez’s men are still looking for their first league win of the campaign and are in 19th-position in the Premier League table.

However, the Watford game is the first of two home fixtures in a row for Newcastle with Bournemouth due to make the trip to St James’ Park on Saturday week.

Benitez will see these next two games as a great opportunity to get some wins on the board and climb out of the relegation zone in the process.
