Rafael Benitez has rubbished talk he will allow Liverpool to beat Newcastle this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasing side visit St James’ Park this on Saturday, sitting just one point behind leaders Manchester City with two games remaining.
Liverpool are looking to end a 29-year wait for a top flight league title and Newcastle boss Benitez, who won the Champions League during a six year spell at Anfield, has dismissed talk he will do his former side any favours this weekend.
“We have 52,000 in our stadium and it is the last home game of the season, ” Rafa said at his pre-match press conference.
“Everyone understands we are professionals – for everyone here, we want to win the game.”
“They [Liverpool] are having a great season. You could see against Barcelona, one of the best teams in the world, they were very aggressive and had control for a while, until Messi decided it had to be different.
”To win the Premier League would be massive for them.”
