Newcastle United were stuck in the relegation zone until early November. Then, The Magpies won their first league game of the season and then two more in succession to climb up the Premier League table.
Last Saturday, they lost 3-0 at home to West Ham United but again upped their game midweek to get a creditable 1-1 draw away to Everton.
There is no doubt that Newcastle’s form is on the up and it looks like Rafa Benitez seems to have figured out how to get his team clicking for the moment.
Speaking today, Benitez was full of praise for his players and was talking them up ahead of their clash against Wolves this Sunday.

“This group of players deserve credit because they are doing a fantastic job,” Benitez told his Friday presser.
Benitez knows his side will have to raise their game again against Nuno Espirito Santo’s team if they want to take anything from the match.
“Wolves are a very good team – they have had the same manager for a while and have been playing the same way.”
Wolves are currently six points ahead of Newcastle so a win for the home side would be a huge step towards mid-table safety.
