Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has said that he is happy at Newcastle, despite reports linking him with a potential move to China.
The Magpies are up to 14th after they finally got their first win of the season earlier this month beating Watford 1-0, before following that up with a 2-1 win over high flying Bournemouth.
There have been many criticisms of Newcastle owner Mike Ashley for his lack of backing of Rafa Benitez in the transfer market, prompting speculation that the Spaniard could leave the North East giants.
The Sun have claimed that Benitez is a target for Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande, but with just six months remaining on his current deal at St James’ Park, Benitez has said he is happy at the club.
“My position is very clear,” Benitez told the media ahead of Monday’s clash with Burnley.
“If you can see the club progressing it would be easier, because I am happy here.”
Asked if he was considering his next move away from Tyneside, he responded: “No. At the moment I want to make sure that we concentrate on games, one game at a time, a see what we can do in January.
“What I think is that Mike (Ashley, owner), Lee (Charnley MD), when I talk with them they realise we are close and if we do the right things we will be better. Can we do it? We will try.
“Maybe we don’t need to do anything. But I want to see if we can do something to make sure we can be better every week.”
