Bayern Munich are set to rekindle their interest in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha in the January transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel sought a reunion with Chalobah in the summer, but a loan move fell through. Palhinha was on the verge of signing for the Bundesliga champions on deadline day, but ran out of time.
Now the Bayern head coach wants to sign both players before the month is out, according to the Independent.
However, Fulham are ‘confident’ of holding onto Palhinha, according to the Standard. After the window closed the Portugal international, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, signed a new contract, one which does not include a release clause.
Chalobah, who has also attracted the interest of Crystal Palace and Roma, should be an easier deal to complete, as Chelsea are willing to sell players in order to meet Profit & Sustainability Rules. The 24-year-old is nursing a thigh injury and is yet to feature for the Blues this season.
Meanwhile, Fulham have triggered a one-year extension in Tom Cairney’s contract.
