Bayern Munich vs Club Brugge – Predicted lineup and team news

Bayern Munich will aim to maintain their perfect start to the 2025–26 season when they host Club Brugge at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday as Vincent Kompany’s side looks to make it three wins from three in Group B of the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern Munich vs Club Brugge – Match Preview and Team News

  • Date: Wednesday, 22nd October.
  • Kick-off: 8pm BST.
  • Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich.

Bayern Munich Team News

Vincent Kompany’s side remains unbeaten in all competitions, winning all 11 matches so far this season. However, defensive options are limited: Hiroki Ito, Alphonso Davies and Josip Stanišić are sidelined, with only the latter having returned to training but not yet match-fit. Kompany is likely to pair Dayot Upamecano with Jonathan Tah at centre-back, flanked by Sacha Boey and Konrad Laimer.

In attack, Serge Gnabry missed Saturday’s 2-1 Klassiker win over Borussia Dortmund with a groin issue but has been described as “not so bad” and is expected to be available. Jamal Musiala continues his recovery from a broken leg, so a front three of Michael Olise, Harry Kane and Luis Díaz is probable, supporting Nicolas Jackson up front.

Club Brugge Team News

Nicky Hayen’s men travel in good form, unbeaten in five league matches (four wins, one draw). Belgium captain Simon Mignolet remains doubtful after six weeks out with an adductor injury, so Nordin Jackers is expected in goal. Midfielders Ludovit Reis (shoulder) and Raphael Onyedika (hamstring) are ruled out again.

Captain Hans Vanaken will anchor midfield alongside Aleksandar Stanković, with Cisse Sandra, Carlos Forbs and Nicolò Tresoldi supporting Christos Tzolis in attack.

Form

Bayern Munich

Vincent Kompany’s side have been sensational this season, winning all 11 matches across all competitions. In the Bundesliga, Bayern sit top of the table with a perfect record of seven wins from seven matches, scoring 27 goals and conceding just four. They extended their lead at the summit with a crucial 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday.

Their Champions League campaign has been equally impressive. Bayern opened with a 3-1 home victory over Chelsea before thrashing debutants Pafos 5-1 in Cyprus. They currently top the Champions League standings with six points from two matches and a goal difference of +6.

Club Brugge

Club Brugge made an impressive start to their Champions League campaign with a stunning 4-1 victory over Monaco at home in September. However, they suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Atalanta in their second fixture after leading at half-time. Christos Tzolis opened the scoring for the Belgian side, but Mario Pasalic’s late header completed Atalanta’s comeback.

In domestic competition, Nicky Hayen’s side is second in the Belgian Pro League with 23 points from 11 matches, three points behind leaders Union St. Gilloise. They have bounced back from the Atalanta setback with back-to-back league victories, defeating Union St. Gilloise 1-0 and Oud-Heverlee Leuven 1-0. Tzolis scored the winner against Leuven on Friday, continuing his fine form with seven goals in 18 appearances this season.

Predicted Lineups

Bayern Munich: Neuer; Boey, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Kane, Diaz; Jackson.

Club Brugge: Jackers; Seys, Spileers, Mechele, Meijer; Stankovic, Vanaken; Forbs, Sandra, Tzolis; Tresoldi.
