Bayern Munich will rival Arsenal and Liverpool for the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer.
Zubimendi is on the wish list of several top clubs ahead of the summer transfer window and has a release clause of €60m (£51.4m) in his contract with the Spanish side.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old, who impressed as Sociedad reached the Champions League’s Round of 16 this season, while Liverpool have also been linked with the five-cap Spain international.
Sky Germany are reporting that Bayern Munich are ready to compete with Premier League clubs for his signature as the German champions look to sign a defensive midfielder.
The Bavarians failed with a bid to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham last summer and remain determined to add a number six to their options.
Zubimendi is said to be open to a move to Germany and a transfer is expected with Sociedad likely to miss out on Champions League qualification this season.
The San Sebastián-born midfielder has made 184 appearances in all competitions for his hometown club since progressing through the academy ranks.
The club’s pursuit of Zubimendi will hinge on who is appointed as the new head coach at the Allianz Arena, with Thomas Tuchel set to step down from his role at the end of the season.
Bayern will also want to clarify the futures of midfield duo Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, who will each enter the final 12 months of their contract in Munich in the summer.
