Bayern Munich open Gordon transfer talks with Newcastle United

Bayern Munich have reportedly opened talks with Newcastle United over potential deal for Anthony Gordon in the summer transfer window.

The winger’s future at St. James’ Park is up in the air after weeks of speculation, including links with Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool as well as Bayern.

The 25-year-old has not played any of the last three Premier League games for the Magpies amid the rumours. A hip issue was cited as the reason for missing the defeats to Bournemouth and Arsenal, but he was an unused substitute when he returned to the matchday squad for last Saturday’s win over Brighton.

It’s unclear whether Gordon will play for Newcastle again, with Sky Sports News reporting that the club “will listen to offers” as they “expect him to want to explore his options this summer”.

After “keeping tabs” on the England international since the turn of the year, Bayern have “made official contact” with the Tyneside outfit. The two clubs are said to have a “good relationship”.

Gordon’s agents were spotted in Barcelona this week, although there’s been “no direct contact” between Newcastle and the Catalan club. He is represented by Unique Sports Group.

Newcastle reportedly want at least £75 million for the attacker, who is contracted to the club until 2030. He is said to be “open” to joining Vincent Kompany’s side ahead of next season.

Gordon, who has registered 16 goals and five assists in all competitions this season, joined Newcastle from Everton in a £45m deal in January 2023. He was almost sold to Liverpool in 2024 as the club sought to comply with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
