Bayern Munich eye Alderweireld as Boateng replacement

Having chased Toby Alderweireld and Jerome Boateng for large parts of the summer, Manchester United could be about to miss out on both players, with Bayern Munich eyeing up a move for the Tottenham defender.

Manchester United were widely known to be in the market to sign a new centre-back this summer, with Alderweireld and Boateng just two of the names linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire stayed at Leicester, Diego Godin turned down a move to United, while Yerry Mina opted to move Everton instead, leaving United with the same defensive options as last season.

Reports have suggested that Boateng is interested in a move to PSG and has already agreed personal terms, with the Germany international believing that the French champions are better equipped to compete in the Champions League than United.

Now, according to the Mirror, Bayern Munich are eyeing up Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld as a potential replacement for Boateng.

United are of course unable to add to their squad until January 1 when the transfer window for Premier League clubs reopens, although the European window is of course still open until the end of the month.
