No Hazard, no problem for Chelsea as Maurizio Sarri’s side ran out comfortable 4-0 winners today against Burnley at Turf Moor.
Much of the talk surrounding Chelsea this season has suggested that without their mercurial playmaker Hazard they would struggle to break teams down and Blues fans were understandably worried when it was revealed before the game that the 27-year-old Belgium international did not make the match day squad due to injury.
Sarri revealed before the game that he was hopeful some of his other attacking player would step up in Hazard’s absence and the Italian coach certainly got the kind of response he wanted with Alvaro Morata, Ross Barkley, Willian and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all scoring as the Blues brushed aside Sean Dyche’s Clarets.
Speaking after the game England international Barkley praised his sides performance and stated that him and his teammates believe they have what it takes to go all the way in this seasons title race.
“We put in a top drawer performance today. We are growing, we have momentum game by game and we can continue to improve.’’ Barkley told the BBC.
“I am made up with how things are going, we are chipping in with the goals. I believe we can stay in the title race.”
Chelsea move up to second in the Premier League table after today’s victory.
