Barcelona head to the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia this Sunday to take on Valencia in their latest La Liga fixture.
Hansi Flick’s side are flying at the start of the 2026–27 season, having won all four of their league games so far. Their attack has been especially lethal, highlighted by a dominant 5–0 away win over Valencia at the Mestalla earlier in the campaign. That ruthless edge carried into Europe, where Barcelona opened their Champions League account with a commanding 5–1 home victory against Feyenoord in midweek.

Going into Matchday five, Barcelona’s squad is largely intact. Eric García, who sat out the Feyenoord game because of a suspension, is now eligible again and back in contention.
He suffered a nasal fracture in the recent league meeting with Valencia after a collision with teammate Rodri, but has returned to training wearing a protective mask and is expected to be cleared to play with it on Sunday.
The main absentees remain Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji, both still recovering from serious knee problems.
De Jong is working back from a medial collateral ligament injury sustained over the summer, with a return not expected until at least October. Bardghji is out for a much longer period after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
With a packed schedule ahead, Flick is expected to rotate heavily to manage minutes and keep players fresh. That opens the door for several younger options.
Gerard Martín, Xavi Espart, and Fermín López are all in the mix to start as part of a reshuffled side. Even with changes, key attacking figures Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are set to keep their places, remaining central to Barcelona’s high-powered forward line.
