Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in their next La Liga encounter on Sunday in their final league game before the November international break.
Barcelona lead La Liga with 30 points from 11 games, having won 10 matches and lost only one. After back-to-back defeats against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Real Madrid in El Clásico last month, Hansi Flick’s team responded strongly. They crushed Deportivo Alavés 6-1 in the league and then beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the Champions League, arriving in Madrid with impressive attacking momentum.
Barcelona team news
Barcelona make the trip to Madrid with several players unavailable. Midfielder Rodri is out after suffering a hamstring injury against Aston Villa, while Jules Koundé, Dani Olmo, Roony Bardghji, and Xavi Espart are also missing.
There is some good news for Flick, though, as defenders Eric García and Andreas Christensen have recovered and are included in the squad.
Flick has said García is fit enough to start if required. If García is not rushed back, young defender Brian Fariñas may continue at right-back alongside Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, and João Cancelo.
In midfield, Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal are both options to play alongside Pedri in place of Rodri. Further forward, Lamine Yamal, Fermín López, Anthony Gordon, and Raphinha are expected to form an exciting attacking lineup for the visitors.
Barcelona predicted lineup
Possible Barcelona starting XI: J Garcia; Farinas, Cubarsi, Martin, Cancelo; Bernal, Pedri; Yamal, Fermin, Gordon; Raphinha
