Barcelona vs Getafe – Match preview and team news
- Date: Saturday, 10th October.
- Kick-off: 5:30pm BST.
- Venue: Camp Nou.
Barcelona team news
Barcelona faces a major setback ahead of their clash with Getafe as captain and star forward Raphinha is officially ruled out. The Brazilian picked up a right hamstring muscle injury during the international break, halting a sensational run that has already seen him net 12 goals this season.
In his absence, summer signing Gabriel Jesus is highly anticipated to make his first start for the Catalan club, likely operating through the centre of the attack to lead the line.
Head coach Hansi Flick also faces a late selection dilemma in goal; Joan Garcia has returned to group training following a knee injury, but a final decision remains pending on whether he will start over backups Dominik Livaković or Wojciech Szczęsny.
Meanwhile, Barça’s lengthy injury list continues to rule out long-term absentees Frenkie de Jong, Roony Bardghji, and defender Andreas Christensen.
Getafe team news
Getafe CF receives a timely midfield boost as Mario Martín returns to availability. He is expected to step straight back into José Bordalás’s starting lineup after successfully serving his suspension prior to the international break.
However, the visitors are dealing with significant fitness concerns elsewhere on the pitch. Midfielder Christantus Uche remains sidelined with a knee injury, and forward Juanmi is also unavailable due to a muscle problem, leaving Getafe short on attacking depth for this tough away fixture.
To complicate matters further, Bordalás faces late fitness tests for two defensive pillars. Key centre-back Abdel Abqar is struggling with a muscle knock, while full-back Kiko Femenía is racing against time to recover from a hamstring issue, leaving Getafe’s backline highly uncertain ahead of kick-off.
Form
Barcelona
Barcelona enters this fixture in breathtaking, flawless form, sitting comfortably at the top of the La Liga standings. The Catalan giants boast a perfect domestic record, winning all seven of their opening league matches. Their attacking prowess has been relentless under Hansi Flick, highlighted by emphatic recent victories including a 5-0 thrashing of Valencia, a 7-2 demolition of Racing Santander, and a convincing 3-1 away win against Sevilla.
Getafe
Getafe CF has endured a highly inconsistent start to their league campaign and currently sits in 12th place. José Bordalás’s side has struggled significantly to find the back of the net, particularly away from home, where they have failed to score a single league goal and lost their last three away fixtures. However, they managed to capture some momentum just before the international break by securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Málaga CF.
Predicted lineups
