Barcelona will turn down approaches for Ferran Torres in the summer after the forward’s return to favour at the Camp Nou.
Torres had been linked with leaving Barcelona after struggling to cement a regular role in the side, but the 23-year-old has impressed this season with 11 goals in all competitions.
The Spain international has scored seven La Liga goals from just 10 starts and Barcelona have been impressed with the forward’s attitude in attempting to win back a place in the side.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Barcelona will block bids for Torres in the summer, in a blow to the Premier League clubs who had been linked with bringing the former Manchester City star back to English football.
Arsenal and Aston Villa had been credited with interest in signing Torres, who can operate across the frontline and has scored 18 goals in 40 caps for the Spanish national side.
Torres discussed his recent form last month and believes he is in the best period of his career in Catalonia.
“I think I’m in the best form of my career. I’ve never been so self-confident. Mentally, I am much stronger,” he told the club’s official website.
“I learned that it’s all about mentality. That’s what creates that self-confidence that’s so important to feel right both on and off the pitch. As well as working hard, staying humble and being consistent. It’s discipline that gets you to stand out from the rest.”
