Barcelona make contact over Chelsea star Kante

Barcelona have made a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante according to reports in Italy.

It has been a quiet summer at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea one of the only sides in the Premier League yet to complete a single signing.

However, now that Chelsea have confirmed the sacking of Antonio Conte, it seems as though that could be about to change, with Napoli midfielder Jorginho expected to complete a £53 million move to the Premier League.

While one midfielder is on the brink of joining the club, one man could be on his way out, with reports in Italy claiming that Barcelona are interested in signing N’Golo Kante.

Transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that the La Liga Champions have made Kante one of their top targets as they look to replace Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, who has returned to China after just one season at the Camp Nou.

It is claimed that Barcelona are willing to make a player-plus-cash deal to land the Frenchman, with unwanted Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes set to be offered in return.

Kante, who is currently preparing to take a starring role in the World Cup final, is also a target French Champions PSG, and Chelsea’s lack of Champions League football could ultimately be decisive should either Barca or PSG come calling.

Barcelona are also interested in Kante’s Chelsea team-mate Willian, and have returned with an improved bid after their initial £50m offer was rejected.
