Barcelona consider Premier League transfer target Jules Kounde untouchable this summer.

The Spanish side are working on a new contract for Kounde amid interest in the defender from Premier League clubs.

Manchester City have been named as suitors this week, as Pep Guardiola looks to sign a recognised right-back. The Citizens had considered Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento, but the Magpies have no intention of negotiating a sale.

Chelsea and Liverpool are also admirers of Kounde and could strengthen with defensive additions before September’s deadline.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona consider Kounde untouchable and are working to extend the 26-year-old’s deal.

Kounde’s current contract expires in 2027 and the La Liga champions are determined to secure his future. He is considered the best in the world in his position by the Catalan club.

Barcelona had considered the signing of Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan as an additional right-back option.

The Dutch international, who starred against Barcelona in last season’s Champions League semi-final, had a €25m (£21.5m) release clause that was active until mid-July. However, Barcelona have since cooled their interest in the player.
