Patrick Bamford says ‘the pressure is off’ Leeds after they dropped out of the Championship’s automatic promotion places with a 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield United.
Chris Basham’s second half goal sealed the win for Sheffield United at Elland Road, with the win lifting Chris Wilder’s side above Leeds and into the top two.
Despite spending much of the season in the top two, Leeds forward Bamford insists the pressure is now off his side after defeat, with automatic promotion to the Premier League now out of their own hands.
“For once the pressure is off us as a club. We’re no longer in the driving seat. Sheffield haven’t had that pressure yet. They’ve always been the underdog. It’s a new thing for them,” Bamford told LUTV.
“People aren’t going to be talking about if Leeds are going to do it [win promotion]. The majority of the focus is going to be on the other two teams.”
