Don Balon claim that Jose Mourinho had pursuaded the Manchester United board to make a move for the 28-year-old, with them making a £90m bid.
Despite Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane stating on numerous occasions that the winger was firmly a part of his plans, it is claimed that United’s offer was ACCEPTED by the European Champions, who planned on using the money to sign Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.
However, despite the La Liga club sanctioning the players departure to United, Bale rejected the move, preferring to stay at the Bernabeu and continue his career with Los Blancos.
