Aubameyang ‘really happy’ after taking a share of Premier League golden boot

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang says he is ‘really happy’ after taking a share of the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

The Arsenal forward scored twice in the club’s 3-1 final day win at Burnley, taking him to a league-high equal 22 goals for the season.

The Gabon international’s brace saw the award finish in a three-way tie, with Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah also netting 22 times in fine personal campaigns.

Following the win, Aubameyang thanked his teammates for helping him to the award, admitting he was ‘really happy’ to have finished as the league’s top scorer.

Asked by www.arsenal.com if his teammates were aware he was in contention for the Golden boot, Aubameyang said: “Yeah, they knew it.

“Me? I said nothing to the guys because I didn’t want them to only focus on me. I’m a team player and if I wasn’t scoring, it wouldn’t have mattered.

“But I scored and I’m really happy for that. I have to be thankful to the team.”
