Atlético responded impressively to their disappointing 3-0 loss to Athletic Club by producing a convincing 3-0 away win against Real Sociedad in their most recent game. The result highlighted their defensive strength and ability to produce decisive attacking moments when opportunities arise. Atlético Madrid will enter this match with several important players unavailable, creating problems for Simeone when selecting his midfield and attack.
The biggest blow is the absence of star striker Julián Álvarez, who has been ruled out after suffering muscle overload. The Argentine is being rested with the Madrid derby against Real Madrid in mind, as the club wants to protect his fitness for that important fixture.
Alexander Sørloth is also expected to miss the match because of a calf tear, further reducing the manager’s attacking options.
