Atletico Madrid vs Deportivo A Coruna – Match preview and team news
- Date: Saturday, 24th October.
- Kick-off: 8pm BST.
- Venue: Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Madrid.
Atletico Madrid team news
Atlético Madrid face notable lineup adjustments tonight due to key first-team injuries. Diego Simeone remains without veteran club captain Koke, who is recovering from a hamstring injury and is not expected back until early November.
Summer centre-back signing Cristian Romero is also sidelined with an adductor strain, as the club opts to protect him ahead of upcoming high-stakes clashes against Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Midfielder Johnny Cardoso misses out following a fresh injury setback. On a positive note, midfielder Lee Kang-in has shaken off a quad problem and is fully fit to feature. In the attacking third, both Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth are available.
Alvarez is highly expected to lead the front line after finding the back of the net during the midweek Champions League draw against Stuttgart.
Deportivo A Coruna team news
Deportivo A Coruña travel to the capital heavily depleted by an ongoing injury plague, particularly in their attacking ranks.
Manager Antonio Hidalgo remains without star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is recovering from meniscus surgery; though he has resumed stationary cycling, he will not return until late November.
Winger Bright Ede is out with a hamstring injury, while Zakaria Eddahchouri and Marc Casadó are completely ruled out. On the bright side, midfielder Lorenzo Amatucci provides a massive boost as he returns from suspension.
However, late fitness tests will determine the availability of Yeremay Hernández and Noé Carrillo, who both remain highly questionable due to minor knocks.
Form
Atletico Madrid
Atlético Madrid are in sensational domestic form, sitting second in La Liga after racking up five consecutive league victories. Their winning streak includes a crucial 2-1 derby triumph over Real Madrid and a hard-fought 1-0 away victory against Espanyol. While they suffered a minor speed bump mid-week with a 1-1 draw against VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League, Diego Simeone’s side remains highly disciplined, resilient, and incredibly difficult to break down.
Deportivo A Coruna
Deportivo A Coruña enter this fixture enduring a much tougher run of form, finding themselves winless in their last four matches. Antonio Hidalgo’s side sits ninth in the standings, plagued by inconsistency. Recent results include a 3-2 defeat to Real Sociedad followed by a 1-1 draw against Levante. Heavily restricted by injuries, they face an uphill battle to find offensive spark against an elite defence.
Predicted lineups
Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Llorente, Pubill, Hancko, Grimaldo; Cardoso, Barrios; Simeone, Kang-in, Baena; Alvarez
Deportivo A Coruna: Roman; Navarro, Gimenez, Noubi, Quagliata; Amatucci, Villares; Cruz, Soriano, Hernandez; Nsongo
