Sunderland are close to completing another summer signing as Atletico Madrid full back Javier Manquillo has arrived on Wearside to complete his medical.
The defender is likely to join on a season long loan after also spending the previous two seasons out on loan. He played under Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool in the 2014/15 season before being shipped out to Marseille last season.
Despite Atletico having high hopes for the defender, he is still considered surplus to requirements for the coming season, and is set to join Sunderland on for the season where David Moyes will hope he will improve the sides poor start to the season.
Sunderland currently sit second from bottom after two defeats from the opening two games of the season including a home defeat to newly promoted local rivals, Middlesbrough.
