Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Antoine Griezmann will join Spanish champions Barcelona this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United had also been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old, who has 133 goals in 257 appearances since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014.
Griezmann announced last month that he would be leaving Diego Simeone’s side this summer after five years in the Spanish capital, having been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp.
The World Cup winner had rejected interest from Barcelona to stay with Atletico in 2018, however the club’s CEO Gil Martin has now confirmed that the Frenchman will join their La Liga rivals this summer.
“I know exactly where he’s going to play. I’ve known since March. In Barcelona,” he told Radio Estadio.
“There are players who feel they are greater than the squad, we have to form a group of men.”
Atletico’s confirmation that Griezmann will move to Barcelona is not quite enough to stop the tabloid’s silly season though, with The Sun still, somewhat bizarrely, claiming Manchester United will make a late bid to hijack the deal…
