Atlanta United deny making approach for Leeds boss Bielsa

Atlanta United have denied they are interested in making Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa their new manager.

The MLS side are looking for a replacement for outgoing former Barcelona and Argentina boss Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino who is leaving the club for personal reasons.

Martino ended his two-year tenure at the club by leading Atlanta to the MLS Cup on Saturday, beating Portland Timbers 2-0 to lift the trophy.

Bielsa has been at Elland Road since the summer and has impressed since his arrival, leading the West Yorkshire club to second in the Championship as they chase automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Atlanta president Darren Eales, despite admitting his admiration for Bielsa and his methods, is not interesting in making an approach for the 63-year-old Argentinian. The club have been linked with a move for Boca Juniors manager Guillermo Barros Schelloto.

Leeds will be looking for their fifth consecutive league win when they play Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
