Aston Villa are braced for interest from the Saudi Pro League in Amadou Onana with Al-Ahli interested in a deal.
Al-Ahli have added Onana to their shortlist as the Saudi side look to build a side capable of challenging for the Pro League title.
Onana joined Aston Villa from Everton in a deal worth around £50m last summer and made 26 league appearances for Unai Emery’s side last season.
Al-Ahli are hopeful of signing the Belgium international, though journalist Ben Jacobs has said the Saudi outfit face a ‘difficult’ challenge to secure a deal.
Aston Villa eased their Premier League Profit and Sustainability issues with the £43m sale of Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United this week and are under less pressure to make a significant sale.
Given the high fee Onana cost last summer, it would take a huge offer for The Villans to contemplate his sale.
Should Onana leave for Al-Ahli, he would link up with ex-Premier League names including Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy and Ivan Toney at The Royals.
