Arsenal are ‘confident’ of completing the signing of Riccardo Calafiori next week with a final round of talks scheduled with Bologna.
The Gunners are closing in on their second signing of the summer after turning David Raya’s loan spell from Brentford into a permanent transfer, with negotiations over a deal for Calafiori advanced.
Calafiori is keen on the move to the Premier League having been impressed with Arsenal’s project and the North Londoners have scheduled further talks with Bologna to finalise terms.
Bologna value the defender in the region of โฌ50m (ยฃ42.3m) and will owe 50% of the profit made on Calafiori, signed for around โฌ5m (ยฃ4.2m) last summer, to FC Basel.
The 22-year-old was a standout performer as Bologna secured a shock Champions League qualification and broke into the Italy side ahead of Euro 2024.
Mikel Arteta wanted to add another left-sided defender to his options at the Emirates, with Calafiori able to operate centrally and at left-back.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that an agreement has been reached on the player side over a contact worth โฌ4m per season with a deal described as ‘close’.
