The German defender only moved to the Emirates 12 months ago from Valencia, but according to the Daily Mail, he would be allowed to leave the club, providing they recoup all of their initial transfer outlay.

Furthermore, reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the 25-year-old has agreed a deal with Inter Milan and has informed Arsene Wenger of his desire to move to the San Siro.

However, it is claimed that Inter are interested in a loan move for the defender, where as the Gunners will only sanction a permanent transfer.
