Arsenal have been heavily linked with Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu for some months now, and the talented centre-back has admitted that he is hopeful that a deal can be reached that will see him playing at the Emirates next season.

The 21-year-old defender has impressed since moving to the Bundesliga in 2016 and is rated as one of Europe’s best defensive prospects.

Turkish international Soyuncu has revealed that he is keen on joining Arsenal, although it depends on whether Freiburg will be willing to sell.

“Arsenal is an option,” Soyuncu told Turkish outlet Gunes.

“I hope I go to Arsenal.

“I want to play there, but everything depends on my team. Because I still have a three-year contract.”

Soyuncu, who began his career at Turkish side Altinordu, also admitted that he turned down an offer from a unnamed club in his homeland.

“Yes, I received bids from some of the teams in Turkey,”

“I would not be able to give the team a name, but I did not accept it.
