Arsenal are surprise favourites to land the signing of Real Madrid’s star midfielder Luka Modric.
The Croatian international of course spent three seasons in the Premier League playing for the Gunners arch rivals Spurs, before moving to the Bernabeu in 2012.
Modric has since gone on to win the Champions League three times with Real Madrid and is widely considered to be one of Europes classiest midfield operators.
A report today in the Express has revealed that Arsenal are preparing a shock £53 million bid for the former Spurs man, and Bookmakers have installed the Gunners as favourites to secure the 32-year-old’s signature this summer.
Alex Apati a representative from leading bookmaker Ladbrokes has admitted that the drop in odds is a clear indicator that the move well go ahead.
“It would go down as one of the most shocking transfers of recent windows if Modric opts to join Arsenal, but the odds suggest there’s every chance of a deal happening,” He said.
Arsenal have been slashed to 2/1 to sign Modric, with other Premier League club’s Spurs at 3/1 and Liverpool at 5/1.
