Arsenal are ready to rival interest from Liverpool in Fluminense midfielder Andre in the January transfer window.
Mikel Arteta wants to improve his options in defensive midfield during the winter window and the Gunners have joined the race for Andre, who won the Golden Ball award in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 2022.
Liverpool registered an interest in signing the 22-year-old during the summer, but Fluminense were reluctant to allow Andre to leave before the end of the Brazilian season in December.
Spanish outlet Fichajes are now reporting that Arsenal have expressed interest in Andre, who made his debut for the senior Brazil side earlier this year.
Jorginho’s uncertain future at Arsenal and Thomas Partey’s ongoing fitness issues have persuaded Arsenal to assess the market for midfielders and the north Londoners are considering an approach in the new year.
Fluminense are understood to value Andre in the region of €40m and the midfielder could join compatriots Gabriel Magalhães, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus at the Emirates should he favour a move to Arsenal.
