Arsenal keen to offload Nicolas Pepe amid interest from Turkey

Arsenal are keen to offload Nicolas Pepe before the closure of the Turkish transfer deadline, amid interest in the winger from Besiktas and Trabzonspor.

Pepe has struggled to convince since signing for the Gunners in a then club record £72m deal from Lille in 2019, with the Ivory Coast international having spent last season out on loan at Nice.

The 28-year-old does not feature in Mikel Arteta’s plans and Arsenal are hopeful of agreeing a deal to sell Pepe in the coming days.

The deadline for Turkish Süper Lig sides is September 15 and the Evening Standard are reporting that Besiktas and Trabzonspor are considering moves.

Pepe has failed to live up to expectations since his record-breaking move to the Emirates and fell down the pecking order following the emergence of Bukayo Saka in north London.

The winger has scored 27 goals in 121 appearances for Arsenal, while he netted six times in 19 Ligue 1 games on loan at Nice last season.

Pepe has not been assigned a squad number for the current campaign with the Ivorian free to leave the Gunners.
