Arsenal make a move for La Liga defender

Arsenal have made a move for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi according to reports in Germany.

The German defender has a £42million release clause in his contract with the La Liga club, but it is believed that offers around £25million + add-ons will be listened to.

Arsenal have suffered a long term injury to centre-back Per Mertesacker, and are in desperate need need for cover, despite signing Rob Holding from Bolton last week.

Mustafi’s agent is set to fly to Valencia over the coming days to discuss a potential transfer for his client, who has spent two seasons with the Spanish club.

The defender has 12 caps for his country, and was involved in their Euro 2016 campaign.
