Arsenal legend Robert Pires has insisted that Lyon playmaker Nail Fekir would be a hit in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old France international looked set to complete a move to Liverpool before he became a World Champion with Les Blues this summer, but the deal reportedly broke down at the last minute due to issues with his medical.
Fekir has long been heralded as one of the best young talents in his homeland, but it was only last season that he began to deliver on his undoubted talent on a regular basis, netting 18 goals and providing eight assists in Ligue 1 as his hometown club Lyon qualified for next seasons Champions League.
Arsenal had also been heavily linked with a move for the talented attacker in the past, although that interest has seemingly decreased since the departure of Arsene Wenger as Gunners coach, while Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is also said to be an admirer of his talents.
Former Gunner Pires reckons Fekir would do well if he moves to the English top flight and has encouraged Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to continue his pursuit of the Lyon captain.
“Fekir would be a good fit for the Premier League and a great signing for Liverpool,” said Pires to bwin.
“I don’t know why the deal broke down at the medical earlier this summer, but Fekir is a great player and would be a good signing for Liverpool.”
