Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs is reported to be ‘close’ to a move to West Bromwich Albion.

This news comes just hours after it was reported that his potential £12m move to Watford had broken down after failing to agree personal terms.

It is thought that 27-year-old had initially preferred a move to Vicarage Road in order to work with Marco Silva, but the inability to come to an agreement has seen that situation change drastically.

Sky Sports are reporting that the deal to take Gibbs to the Hawthorns is worth around £7m, this despite Arsenal rejecting a bid from WBA a few weeks ago, believed to be in the region of £10m.

What is interesting about this revelation is Arsenal’s reported renewed interest in WBA defender Jonny Evans, who is also a target for Leicester and Man City.

Could the deal to send Gibbs to WBA be a sweetener to get Evans to the Emirates? We shall see in the remaining 36 hours of the transfer window.
