Arsenal contract rebel Mesut Özil is finally set to sign a mega money deal to stay at the Emirates according to reports.
Germany international Özil has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal at Arsenal after stalling over a new contract for a long time.
However reports in The Sun today claim the 28-year-old is finally ready to put pen to paper on a new long term contract.
Özil had been holding out for a £350,000-a-week deal which would see him become one of the highest earning players in the Premier League. After Arsenal have made it clear they were unable to meet his demands, he is close to agreeing a new deal that will see him earn £280,000-a-week and become the highest paid player in the club’s history.
Özil arrived at Arsenal four-years ago on a club record £42.5million move from Real Madrid and has produced some truest womderful displays. However, his indifferent form and languid body language at times has lead him to come in from criticism from some sections of the Arsenal support and media.
He has apparently been given assurances by Arsene Wenger, who himself signed a new two year deal this week, about how he intends to guide the club to the Premier League title.
Arsenal suffered one of their worst Premier League campaigns in recent history, failing to finish in the top four and subsequently missing out on Champions League qualification. They did manage to claim a record 13th FA Cup title last week with a 2-1 victory over League Champions Chelsea.
