Arsenal are close to completing the signings of Ajax defender Jurrien Timber and Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.
Arsenal are expected to announce the signing of Havertz from Chelsea this week after reaching an agreement on a £65m deal for the Germany international. The 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract with the Gunners after expressing a desire to leave Chelsea and cross the capital.
Havertz has struggled for consistent performances during three seasons at Chelsea, but scored the winning goal as the west Londoners won the Champions League in 2020/21.
He will add to Arsenal’s attacking options next season and is understood to be viewed primarily as a midfielder at the Emirates.
Sky Sports are also reporting that Arsenal are in advanced talks with Ajax over a deal for Timber. Mikel Arteta’s side saw an opening bid of £30m turned down for the Dutch defender, but there is a confidence from both sides that an agreement will be reached on a fee. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with the highly-rated centre-back keen on a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal are also working on a deal to sign Declan Rice from West Ham and have submitted a club-record bid of £105m for the England international. Arsenal’s offer comes amid interest from Manchester City and would set a new record for a British player.
