Arsenal are close to completing two more signings as Unai Emery continues to overhaul his playing squad.
The Gunners have already completed a deal to sign Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus and are thought to be close to signing Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, with Emery having identified the Arsenal defence as a point of weakness.
According to the Telegraph however, the newly appointed Spanish boss is close to finalising a £48 million double deal to take Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira.
While Arsenal ‘keeper Petr Cech is one of the greatest goalkeepers the Premier League has ever seen, the former Chelsea star’s best days are long behind him, and an increasing number of errors are creeping into his game.
Cech, and current backup goalkeeper David Ospina, both have one year remaining on their current deal at the Emirates, and could find themselves heading toward the exit door.
Leno is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga, and is expected to move to the Premier League in a £22m Deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Sampdoria to sign Lucas Torreira, who is currently at the World Cup with Uruguay. The Gunners have agreed a deal worth around £26m, although the structure of the payments is still to be agreed.
